![]() If that's not definition malware, I don't know what is.Īs far as I can tell, there is no way to opt out through Utorrent, I imagine if done carefully, this could make for a nice lawsuit. Furthermore, if you use Chrome's sign-in feature (like I personally do), this addon will follow you from machine to machine, installing itself on every single computer that you use Chrome on. What makes matters worse, is it does not follow Chrome's convention for addon installation. Normally, Chrome itself will download the necessary files to this directory, but Utorrent is exploiting how Chrome manages extensions to install itself without question. These files persist through Chrome re-installs, and are loaded automatically as this is the folder Chrome watches for extension installation. It appears that when Utorrent installs it throws javascript files in:Ĭ:\Users\\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\pacgpkgadgmibnhpdidcnfafllnmeomc I was pretty ticked off and determined, so I did my best to trace back exactly how it does so. It appears the Utorrent bar is exploiting the way Chrome handles extensions. I checked the box containning words "agree to install utorrent" which careflly hidden at the end of the policy agreement item. But please, utorrenter, do things in a right way. I can accept software really unique, which I can not have alternative choice, bunddled even with malwares. I am OK with software buddled with uglywares, but please let people choose. Delete it from firefox, addon, finally gone. ![]() Delete install folder, it was still there. Unstall it from control panel, it was still there. But at the end of the installation, kaspersky reported malware activity. I am sure I did not check any box for the toolbar at any step. ![]() However, it happened during the installation. With previous experience, I scaned the software with kaspersky and antivir before I installed. ![]() I am from China where you can see lot of malwares, scams llike these. You two are the people really force me to register to say something. I'm not even sure he'll read this, but if he's as careless as this in general no one will take him seriously anyway. I suggest that you post a clip displaying exactly what you do' date=' and the result. Since it never happened to me (if I install uTorrent correctly) - I can only assume you are doing something wrong. On any installed browsers even when all the boxes are unchecked. ![]()
